Instructional Leadership & Capacity Building
I partner with NCDPI districts to build the capacity of district leadership as they develop sustainable systems, strengthen implementation, and idetnify best practices for improving districtwide student outcomes.
The Work at a Glance
In my current role with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), I empower district and school leaders to expand instructional leadership capabilities and build sustainable internal capacity across schools.
Cultivate a Shared Instructional Vision: This is done by engaging district leaders and helpinng them define what high-quality instruction looks like in their district.
Translate Vision into Daily Practice: I support districts in reviewing and revising their current instructional frameworks so that they are robust while providing curriculum supports, and observation models that drive classroom effectiveness.
Build Leadership and Teacher Capacity: I support districts by providing side-by-side customized coaching, job-embedded professional learning, and assistance with developing professional collaborative learning communities.
Strengthen Systems for Instructional Support: I assist districts with developing systems for analyzing teaching and learning data, addressing gaps, and aligning district resources to support educator development.
My approach ensures that instructional leadership is not just defined. It is practiced, developed, supported, and sustained across every school.

School leaders frequently navigate complex operational demands that can overshadow their primary role as instructional leaders. Without intentional, collaborative spaces, principals risk driving initiatives in isolation, leading to fragmented implementation, inconsistent instructional quality across the district, and a lack of aligned professional growth.
I coach, facilitate, and serve as strategic thought partner with distric leadership to help establish and maintain high-impact professional learning structures for school leaders. I work with district to co-facilitate ongoing principal PLCs, design targeted book studies, determine MTSS data decision rules and lead specialized training cycles that elevate executive leadership skills.
I use systematic planning tools such as structured PLC running agendas, goal-oriented presentations, annual focus lists, and dedicated training cycles to shift principal development from passive learning to active implementation. By embedding collaborative inquiry and continuous improvement cycles into executive practice, I ensure leaders build internal capacity, foster peer accountability, and consistently model effective instructional leadership within their schools.
Evidence 1: Instructional Leadership & Coaching
Evidence 2: Strategic Systems Alignment
Sustainable district-wide improvement requires moving beyond high-level strategy to ensure that implementation is rigorously tracked, continuously monitored, and directly informed by performance data. Districts often struggle with gaps between strategic vision at the cabinet level and actual execution in classrooms.
Serving as a systems coach and strategic partner, I bridge the gap between district-level planning and school-level execution. I assist district leadership in designing diagnostic tools, facilitating data-driven reflection cycles, and establishing operational alignment alongside Chief Academic Officers, curriculum coaches, and improvement teams.
I implement a multi-layered coaching framework anchored in diagnostic analysis and fidelity tracking. Using preliminary data protocols, structured SWOT questions, and district-level running agendas, I guide leadership teams to pinpoint root causes and prioritize high-leverage actions. Simultaneously, I deploy Scope of Work trackers and coach monitoring systems to maintain transparent progress metrics, resolve operational barriers, and align cross-functional teams around sustained student achievement.
i empower Districts to
dream big… EMBRACE CHANGE…
and ACCELERATE STUDENT GROWTH.
REFLECTION
Instructional leadership and capacity building are not static initiatives; they are continuous processes of alignment, coaching, and accountability. Through:
Facilitating job-embedded learning structures such as: principal PLCs, book studies, annual focus setting, and training cycles, that elevate leaders from isolated managers to collaborative instructional experts.
Utilizing preliminary data discussion protocols and structured SWOT analyses to help leadership teams pinpoint critical gaps, prioritize high-leverage goals, and align district resources effectively.
Establishing operational tools, including Scope of Work trackers and collaborative running agendas, to ensure strategic plans are executed consistently.
By combining structured principal development with transparent, data-informed tracking systems, I ensure that district strategies do not remain high-level concepts. Instead, change is thoroughly understood, systematically implemented, continuously supported, and sustained across every level of the organization.
